Introducing the List of Seven!

I've been inspired! Over on Ticket to Anywhere I saw the List of Twelve feature, which was in turn inspired by the List of Ten feature on Galleysmith. Ticket to Anywhere added the part where the list is made by picking books in certain categories, which I really like.

I like the number 7, and also, it's a number of books I could (sometimes) complete in a month. Plus, I just couldn't come up with more categories than that. And I'm fickle. Too fickle for making long lists that I'm hoping to stick to. So 7 is a nice, not-too-big, number. :)

Basically, I'll create a list of 7 books, which fit in my 7 categories, and read those books. Then I'll make my next list. Simple, eh? I'll read outside of my current list if I get a review copy that needs to be read right away, or if I'm doing a theme month or read-a-thon or something, or get a library book... but other than that I'll try to stick to the list, to keep myself from neglecting certain categories of books. I think this will give some nice balance to my regular reading.

My categories:
  1. Review copy (if I have one; otherwise this can be any book of my choice)
  2. Challenge book (anything that counts for a challenge)
  3. Dusty book (anything that's been on my TBR pile since 2009 or earlier)
  4. Series book (specifically, the next book in one of my big series that I'm working my way through; so, for right now, that would mean an Anne Rice book or a Women of the Otherworld book.)
  5. Exciting book (something I really really want to read, but normally would put off in favour of things I "should" read)
  6. Short book (a nice quick read to give my brain a break)
  7. Canadian book (because I should be reading more of those)
So, without further ado, here's my very first List of Seven!
  1. Review copy: OMG Queer: Short Stories by Queer Youth (NetGalley)
  2. Challenge book: Claws by Will Weaver (counts for the Mount TBR Reading Challenge)
  3. Dusty book: Carrie by Stephen King
  4. Series book: The Witching Hour by Anne Rice
  5. Exciting book: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins (I'm finally making time for this, gosh darn it!)
  6. Short book: The Message (Animorphs #4) by K.A. Applegate
  7. Canadian book: Dime Store Magic by Kelley Armstrong
